Andrew Plocher, Pastor

A native Oregonian, Andrew, spent his childhood active in church, scouting, bands, choirs, and sports, spending most of his summers mountaineering in the Cascade Mountains. He received his BA from Carleton College, in Northfield MN, majoring in Studio Art (relief/woodcut printmaking), his M.Div. from Luther Seminary (St. Paul MN), and is currently in the Doctor of Ministry (Pastoral Counseling) program at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

Prior to arriving at New Hope, Andrew served as an Associate Minister at The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill (Philadelphia, PA). Andrew has worked as a youth director in Presbyterian and Episcopal churches, and has trained in chaplaincy in pediatrics and trauma at The Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha NE, and in mental health at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis MN. Prior to ordained ministry Andrew worked with faith-based community organizing and the labor movement.

When not involved with the church, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife Anna (a doctoral student at Georgetown University) and their elderly dog Andre, playing some occasional ultimate Frisbee, singing barbershop, drawing and creating woodcut prints, baking breads and desserts, watching Philadelphia Phillies games and praying for the Baltimore Orioles, and exploring the trails and museums of the DC area.
